Ethical Power Italia, a subsidiary of Ethical Power Group, has secured its first solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts in Italy for the development of two solar farms on behalf of Encavis AG. The projects, the 9MW Cobu Solar Farm and the 9.3MW Massarenti Solar Farm, will be located in the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy.
Both solar farms will utilize single-axis tracker systems to maximize energy efficiency. Additionally, the Cobu project will include the construction of a 5km MV grid connection line to the nearest grid access point. Construction of both projects is set to begin in the first quarter of 2025, with an expected energization date by the end of the year. Together, the two schemes are projected to generate approximately 28GWh of electricity annually.
Francesca Cavallini, Country Manager for Ethical Power Italia, expressed enthusiasm about the new projects, stating, “Drawing upon a wealth of experience from global landscapes, we are committed to bringing a world-class approach to harnessing Italy’s abundant sunlight and delivering cutting-edge solar projects at Cobu and Massarenti. We are delighted to continue our successful international relationship with Encavis AG.”
Encavis AG recently acquired the Cobu and Massarenti projects at the ready-to-build stage from Hive Energy. This marks the second solar EPC contract awarded by Encavis AG to Ethical Power Group, following the ongoing development of the 55MW Fundici Solar Farm in Spain.
Italy’s solar energy sector continues to expand, with a record 5.23 GW of new solar capacity added to the grid in 2023, the highest annual total since 2011. Ethical Power Italia has an additional pipeline of 200MW in solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, further contributing to Italy’s renewable energy growth in the coming years. |
