The system, called Miichi Kai (in the Wayuu language it means House of the Sun), has been implemented in vulnerable populations in the department of La Guajira. It is an initiative of the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Institute for Planning and Promotion of Energy Solutions (IPSE).
In the Colombian department of La Guajira, the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Institute for Planning and Promotion of Energy Solutions (IPSE) have delivered 80 energy communities, a project that includes individual solar systems and benefits 1,409 families from vulnerable populations.
The statement said that the energy communities are made up of the Miichi Kai system, which means House of the Sun in the Wayuu language, the people targeted by this initiative, which will add another 68 before the end of the year.
The system combines 82 nanogrids and 40 microgrids along with the implementation of 183 individual photovoltaic systems.
The 80 communities have a total capacity of 1,067.85 kWp, which, in addition to providing energy for homes, is used to operate water pumping systems.
The energy project, carried out through a public bidding process, has entailed an investment of more than 47 billion pesos (around 190 million dollars). |
