Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced recently that the state government is currently constructing over 1,000 bridges as part of a major initiative to improve the states road infrastructure. Sarma emphasized that infrastructure development remains a top priority for the ruling government, as it seeks to enhance connectivity across Assam.
The Chief Minister made the remarks while visiting one of the ongoing bridge projects in Lakhimpur district, where he also unveiled several new development initiatives.
In addition to the infrastructure push, CM Sarma outlined plans for the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 investor summit, scheduled for February 24-25, 2024. This event aims to attract investors from across India and around the world, showcasing Assams potential as an investment destination.
The summit will feature a unique cultural showcase, with a performance of the traditional Jhumur dance, representing the tea tribes of Assam. Over 7,500 dancers and artists will participate, with 32 female and 32 male dancers from each of the state’s 800+ tea gardens. Sarma described the performance as a spectacular display of Assams rich cultural heritage, intended to captivate a global audience and promote investment opportunities.
Preparations for the event are already underway, with master training workshops and district-level rehearsals planned to ensure a flawless execution.
The Advantage Assam 2.0 summit builds on the success of the first edition in 2018, aiming to drive infrastructure development and increase investment in the state. With this summit, Assam is positioning itself as a key player in India’s investment landscape. |
