Minister Lisandro Enrico confirmed that the governments goal is to complete the new Santa Fe – Santo Tomé bridge between March and April 2027.
The Minister of Public Works of Santa Fe, Lisandro Enrico, confirmed that the objective of the provincial government is to complete the construction of the new Santa Fe – Santo Tomé bridge between March and April 2027, that is, in the final stretch of the current mandate of Governor Maximiliano Pullaro.
"We are working hard to meet the deadlines for the work. This infrastructure is essential for the development of Santa Fe and Santo Tomé," said Enrico, along with Pullaro, during an extensive interview this Thursday in the AIRE studios with Luis Mino.
The project will be put out to tender on December 20 and the government hopes to award it in February 2025. The deadline for the total execution of the works is 24 months and the official budget for the project amounts to 37.58 billion pesos. The project proposes the construction of a new bridge parallel to the Puente Carretero that will allow doubling the number of roads. Thus, the old bridge will be used for traffic heading towards Santo Tomé and the new one for traffic heading towards Santa Fe.

The site chosen for the construction of the new bridge was downstream of the current route of the Carretero, so it was sought, from a hydraulic point of view, not to modify the current drainage conditions. The projected work is of the "beam bridge" type. On its deck there are two paths for vehicular traffic with a total width of 8.30 meters and an additional width of exclusive paths for pedestrians and cyclists, each of them 1.50 meters. The installation of metal vehicle barriers is also contemplated, to separate motorized traffic from the rest, and pedestrian railings along its entire length.
Regarding the structural design of the bridge, it features a combination of materials, including prestressed concrete for the longitudinal beams and simple reinforced concrete for the deck slab and infrastructure.
A house was expropriated to build the new Santa Fe – Santo Tomé bridge
In conversation with AIRE, Minister Enrico reported details on the progress of the project for the new Santa Fe – Santo Tomé bridge, a work that has been awaited for decades and that promises to improve connectivity in the region. One of the key points to continue with the plan is the expropriation of a house located on the projected route. Enrico highlighted the attitude of the owner of the property, Jorge, who agreed to the expropriation agreement without objection, understanding the importance of the work for the progress of Santo Tomé and the region.
“He is a person who had lived there for years, enjoying the greenery and the surroundings of the Salado River, but who had the greatness to look to the future and understand that this bridge is necessary,” said the minister. The house will be demolished to allow for the widening of Avenida 7 de Marzo and the reconfiguration of nearby streets such as Mitre and Candioti, which will guarantee better vehicular circulation in access to the bridge.
