“SCG Smart Living” reveals the 2025 business plan, looking at positive economic signals, targeting 5-7% growth, adjusting product and service groups (Product Portfolio) to penetrate markets with growth potential, and moving forward with green products to embrace the low-carbon society trend. SCG Smart Living reveals positive signals that affect the overall picture of the construction materials and real estate businesses. It continuously adjusts itself to respond to consumer needs, launching products for the Affordable Segment or customers with limited purchasing power, increasing options for customers with reduced purchasing power, pushing for green products and solutions that respond to environmentally friendly and energy-saving trends, such as Solar Roof and low-carbon construction materials, and adjusting the production sector to use more renewable and clean energy, including developing product production formulas and increasing the variety of raw material usage to best manage costs. It aims to grow by 5-7% amidst a low-growth market situation. It is predicted that the overall construction materials and real estate business in 2025 will tend to expand by 3% in terms of the value of government construction from the plan to bid for several mega-projects in the transportation sector. Meanwhile, private construction is likely to expand by only 1% due to the relatively slow recovery of the housing market. This is considered a relatively low growth compared to 2-3 years ago due to the oversupply. Mr. Wiroj Rattanachaisit, CEO, revealed that the short-term plan will continue to focus on adapting to market situations and competition by launching Affordable Product products to provide more choices for consumers with limited budgets, covering roofing, boards, synthetic wood, and exterior decorative walls, continuously implementing cost reduction projects while maintaining the efficiency and quality of products and services, and accelerating the growth of new businesses, including introducing AI to help employees and business partners access product information, installation methods, and design products quickly to promptly respond to consumer needs. “We are accelerating the growth of new businesses, which will have higher demand in the future, under the new brand ONNEX by SCG Smart Living, such as Solar Solutions or what we call Smart Energy, adding more service formats, from engineering design services, project permits, and complete system installation, targeting businesses, entrepreneurs, and investors. We have a variety of business models and solar systems to offer to customer groups and stakeholders in the Solar Industry Ecosystem under the EPC+ concept.” Meanwhile, environmental challenges are having a greater impact on the building materials and construction industry today than in the past. The smart living business has a proportion of environmentally friendly products and services that are certified SCG Green Choice up to 70% of total product and service sales, in line with the Inclusive Green Growth concept that emphasizes the development and search for technologies to make products emit less carbon while still meeting the usage standards, as well as being beautiful and strong and durable.” Currently, products in SCG Smart Living business have been certified with carbon footprint values ??from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) for over 50% of all products and have been certified with Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for all fiber cement board and decorative materials, guaranteeing low-carbon and environmentally friendly product properties with international standards. The goal is for 80% of construction materials in the Smart Living business to have carbon footprint values ??by 2025, in line with the policy of the Climate Change Act, which is expected to be announced in 2025. In addition, SCG has a plan to collaborate with several real estate developers to use leftover materials from construction as recycled materials, mix them in product manufacturing, and bring the produced products back to use in those projects again. Although it is not a large amount yet and requires efforts to adjust the work processes of both parties, it is considered a good starting point to help reduce construction waste, reuse it, and reduce carbon emissions together. In terms of long-term planning, we continue to focus on studying and developing construction materials made from sustainable materials that reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHGs) emissions, responding to industry trends, pushing the Building Code to become Net Zero Building, which uses more low-carbon products, and accelerating the development of easy and fast installation systems to help reduce costs and labor costs that are becoming more expensive and rare.
