Work Detail The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed a road improvement project aimed at preserving and enhancing road safety in the upland part of Tabuk City, Kalinga Province. Completed is a 4.55-kilometer rehabilitation and upgrading project involving asphalt overlay to extend the road’s lifespan, sealing cracks to prevent water infiltration, and repairs on damaged road pavement. These measures ensure the road remains durable and resilient against wear and tear. In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Cordillera Administrative Region Director Khadaffy D. Tanggol emphasized that this newly completed road project is expected to restore if not enhance vehicle safety, and contribute to sustainable government resource utilization in the area. “Aside from asphalting, major cracks in certain sections were repaired by reblocking, which involves removing and replacing the damaged pavement with new materials for a smooth travel along the segment,” Director Tanggol said. Funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the P46.6-million road project was implemented by the DPWH Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office and was completed in October 2024.
