The Pune Ring Road project has been planned for many years and was first proposed in the late 1970s. The whole route measures 105km and will run through Bopodi, Aundh, Shivajinagar, Erandawane, Kothrud, Duttawadi, Parvati, Bibewadi, Wanawadi, Salasburry Park, Hadapsar, Mundhwa, Kalyaninagar, Yerawada and Kalas.

The 13 tunnel sections will measure a total of 3.75km while there are also eight flyovers, seven viaducts and four bridges crossing railway links.
The project is being managed by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). Construction of the route will help reduce traffic congestion in the city, particularly at peak periods.Contractor G R Infraprojects will build a section of the ring road. The project is being handled under an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) model. The package of works was awarded through MSRDC Pune Ring Road Limited and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MSRDC). |
