Downtown Córdoba: the work for the boulevardization of Maipú is being auctioned; with what budget?
It is for the section that goes from Olmos to Costanera. It will be this Monday, December 2, and the construction period is 270 days.
The Municipality of Córdoba launched the call for the electronic auction for the work to complete the boulevardization of Maipú Avenue, in the center of the city. The auction will take place this Monday, December 2, between 9 and 12, and corresponds to the stage that will connect Emilio Olmos with Guzmán Boulevard. This intervention continues the process started in February 2022, when the boulevardization works began in the section between Illia and Emilio Olmos. During this initial stage, significant changes were introduced in the layout that included a central median with a bicycle lane, exclusive lanes for public transport, improvements to the sidewalks and more vegetation.
Now, with this new stage, it is expected to extend the project design to consolidate a corridor that connects Ciudad Universitaria with the Suquía River. The project has as its central axis the revitalization of public space. It seeks to prioritize active mobility and public transportation, reducing the role of private vehicles.
THE BUDGET FOR THE WORK
The official budget for the work is $5,121,777,962.84, and the contracting system will be “fixed rate”. This means that the contractor will assume the total cost of the execution under the conditions stipulated in the contract. Once the tender has been awarded and the staking out report signed, the estimated execution period is 270 calendar days.
Participation in the auction requires interested companies to meet a series of requirements. These include submitting documentation in a sealed envelope, which must include proof of registration in the municipal and provincial registers. They must also demonstrate specific financial ratios, such as solvency and liquidity, as well as demonstrating economic-financial capacity to undertake a project of this magnitude.
FEATURES OF THE FUTURE BOULEVARD
The projects features include the creation of accessible pedestrian paths, with tactile guides for people with visual disabilities and ramps to ensure universal accessibility. The cycle paths will be integrated into the public transport system, with strategically located bicycle racks.
Smart stops will also be installed that will offer real-time information and will be associated with the exclusive Bus Only lane. Improvements will be made to existing sidewalks, including the renovation of pavements and the elimination of parking bays in favor of green spaces.
This will reduce the impact of vehicles, in line with local regulations that promote the sustainable use of urban space. In addition, traffic lights and road markings, both pedestrian and vehicular, will be completed to improve user safety.
In parallel with the structural works, a reforestation plan will be implemented that includes the planting of species such as jacarandas, liriopes, agapanthus, buxus and dietes. |
