The Spanish company has announced an additional line of 299 million dollars for phase 3 of the Oasis de Atacama project, located in northern Chile. In total, the financing for the first three phases of the project amounts to 644 million dollars. As a whole, the project involves seven phases with a total capacity of 11 GWh and almost 2 GW of solar capacity, presented as the largest of its kind in the world. After having announced days ago the arrival in Chile of 105 new BYD batteries to complete the first phase of the Oasis de Atacama solar and storage project , the Spanish company Grenergy has now announced the signing of a new additional green loan for phase 3 of the project, known as Víctor Jara, for a total of 299 million dollars. The agreement was reached with BNP Paribas, Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking, Société Générale, The Bank of Nova Scotia and SMBC, “the same international banks that also financed phases 1 and 2 of Oasis de Atacama,” the statement said. In total, financing for the first three phases of the project thus amounts to 644 million dollars, since last July Grenergy announced the financial closure of the first two phases of the Oasis de Atacama project for 345 million dollars . Specifically, the third phase of Oasis de Atacama includes 230 MW of solar capacity and 1.3 GWh of energy storage, while the three financed phases of the project comprise 451 MW of solar capacity and 2.5 GWh of storage. In total, the project comprises seven phases with a total capacity of 11 GWh and almost 2 GW of solar capacity. It is expected to generate approximately 5.5 TWh of energy annually. The first phase of the project is expected to be connected in the coming weeks, with the remaining phases planned for 2025-2026. |
