In a heartfelt demonstration of compassion and solidarity, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Central Office and National Capital Region delivered essential aid to typhoon-affected employees and communities in Apayao Province as part of the 2024 Donation Drive led by Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan.
Assistant Secretary for Support Services Michael S. Villafranca spearheaded the ceremonial turnover of donations on December 13, 2024 at the DPWH Apayao 2nd District Engineering Office in Luna, Apayao.
Acting under Secretary Bonoan’s directive to oversee the donation drive, Assistant Secretary Villafranca underscored DPWH’s commitment to support its affected employees and communities during times of need.
Joining the relief efforts were DPWH Stakeholders Relations Service Director Randy R. Del Rosario; District Engineer Ronalyn P. Ubiña and Assistant District Engineer Aurel A. Perez of the Apayao 2nd District Engineering Office; District Engineer Rustom A. Martinez and Assistant District Engineer Daisy C. Marallag of the Apayao 1st District Engineering Office; DPWH-Cordillera Administrative Region Legal Division Chief Atty. Rex B. Paderes; DPWH-NCR Planning and Design Division Chief Liberato D. Mercado; and NCR Information Technology Officer Richard F. Dacoroon.
During the event, Assistant Secretary Villafranca emphasized the DPWH’s mission to go beyond infrastructure development by providing much-needed assistance to communities in distress.
“On behalf of Secretary Bonoan, I extend my heartfelt solidarity to our kababayans in Apayao who have been severely impacted by recent typhoons. The donations we are handing over today are not just material aid—they are symbols of hope, unity, and our shared commitment to help rebuild lives,” Assistant Secretary Villafranca said.
District Engineer Ubiña expressed deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to the initiative, which aligns with the Department’s 2024 Christmas theme: “Paskong DPWH: Pagkakaisa at Bayanihan, Tunay na Diwa ng Kapaskuhan.”
“To our donors and sponsors, your generous contributions are now in the hands of those who truly need them. Your support is a gift of hope to the people of Apayao,” District Engineer Ubiña added.
This activity underscores DPWH’s alignment with the Bagong Pilipinas development agenda, which promotes hope, unity, and resilience among communities affected by disasters.
Through the 2024 Christmas Donation Drive, the DPWH reaffirmed its commitment to public service, demonstrating that the bayanihan spirit remains a cornerstone of its efforts to support Filipinos in times of crisis. |
