Work Detail It has been designed, developed and manufactured through a public-private collaboration between Corfo, Colbún, Anglo American and Reborn Electric Motors. With the presence of Chilean President Gabriel Boric, the first hydrogen bus fully manufactured in the country was presented. The project, announced a year ago , has been a public-private collaboration between Corfo, Colbún, Anglo American and Reborn Electric Motors, which designed, developed and manufactured the vehicle. The National Piloting Centre (CNP) and Fundación Chile also participate in this alliance as strategic partners. According to an official statement, the bus – measuring 8.5 m long, 2.4 m wide and 3.4 m high – has a capacity for 24 passengers and a range of up to 600 kilometres, thanks to a combination of hydrogen and battery charging. It can reach a maximum speed of 90 km/h and has fuel storage tanks with a capacity of approximately 20 kg, with the possibility of operating in both industrial and urban and rural environments. The initiative has a total investment of 800 million pesos (around 815 dollars), and its development is being led by Reborn Electric Motors, a Chilean technology startup. The bus will begin testing in 2025 and is expected to be used in everyday environments, including public roads. It is also expected to be used in Chilean schools and universities to promote technology transfer and future scalability. The project has received support from the Production Development Corporation (Corfo) through the Corfo Crea y Valida financing line, a program that co-finances the development of new or improved products or processes that require research and development.
