Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with national ministries and branches, is advancing its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 through the implementation of the Political Declaration on the Just Energy Transition Partnership. The city’s strategy emphasizes the development of renewable energy, economic energy use, and efficiency.
Key Initiatives to 2030
To achieve its targets, the city is prioritizing initiatives that attract investors, businesses, and public participation in the energy transition. The focus areas include:
Renewable Energy Expansion: Developing industries related to renewable energy, particularly in equipment manufacturing, power storage technologies, and carbon dioxide (CO2) recovery, absorption, and storage.
Green Hydrogen Production: Promoting the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia as sustainable energy solutions.
Infrastructure Development: Upgrading and constructing modern, intelligent infrastructure for electricity production, transmission, storage, and distribution, capable of integrating large-scale renewable energy sources.
Technology and Workforce Development: Enhancing electrification processes, advancing human resource training, and mastering modern technologies for the renewable energy sector.
Risk Mitigation: Identifying measures to safeguard businesses, workers, and vulnerable communities during the transition.The city is also conducting capacity-building programs to unlock investment and employment opportunities within the renewable energy ecosystem.
