Work Detail The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed the construction of a flood control project, aimed at mitigating flood risks and supporting agricultural productivity along the Bayating River in the Municipality of Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac. The completed P47-million project, funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), covers 136.10 linear meters of slope protection, including steel sheet piles, masonry works, and a parapet wall for enhanced flood control and soil stability. In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Regional III Office Director Roseller A. Tolentino said that the use of reinforced materials ensures the structure’s capability to withstand erosion, liquefaction, and other natural challenges. “This project is designed to manage water distribution effectively, providing stability that will maintain workable condition for farmers and fostering progress in rural area,” Director Tolentino added. The slope protection system also includes a 6.10-meter-wide traveled way, designed to accommodate safe access for motorists and residents in the area. Implemented by the DPWH Tarlac 1st District Engineering Office, the project was completed in July 2024.
