Chinese smartphone-maker OnePlus has announced plans to invest ?6,000 crore in India over the next three years, allocating ?2,000 crore annually to enhance product innovation, customer service, and India-specific features.
Focus on Durability and Indian Conditions
Under its “Project Starlight,” OnePlus aims to address unique challenges faced by Indian users, such as extreme weather, heavy device usage, and extended replacement cycles. The company will introduce the worlds first DisplayMate A++ display, optimized for India’s sunny climate, offering a peak brightness of 4500 nits for vivid and clear visibility even under intense sunlight.
The new OnePlus 13 Smartphone Series will debut with a 2K 120Hz ProXDR Display and "Steady Connect," a Bluetooth feature with a 360-meter range, ensuring stable connections in crowded areas like subway stations.
India-Specific Connectivity Features
Acknowledging the need for high-speed, reliable connectivity, the OnePlus 13 series will bring 5.5G connectivity with speeds up to 380% faster than current standards. Customized signal optimization features will enhance performance in locations like the Delhi Metro.
Customer Service Expansion
To improve user experience, OnePlus plans to expand its service centres by 50% by mid-2026, upgrading retail outlets and third-party stores for better service capabilities. The company will enhance online support with hotline services, WhatsApp assistance, live chat, and a transparent repair tracking system.
In 2025, the company recorded a 22% increase in service centres, including an 11% rise in exclusive OnePlus-owned centres. Half of its flagship stores are being upgraded to offer enhanced in-store experiences.
Green Line Worry-Free Solution
Addressing display durability, OnePlus will launch a Green Line Worry-Free Solution, providing a protective layer to AMOLED displays and extending a lifetime warranty against green line issues for all OnePlus devices.
Commitment to India
“India remains a top priority for us globally,” said Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India. “With Project Starlight, we aim to deliver reliable devices and services tailored to Indian conditions, earning the trust and affection of our community here.”
This investment underscores OnePlus’ focus on creating innovative, durable devices while enhancing customer service and connectivity solutions tailored to Indian users. |
