Cote D'ivoire (Ivory Coast) Procurement News Notice - 84257

Procurement News Notice

PNN 84257
Work Detail Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé is expected to push Côte d’Ivoire’s claims to be a new centre for renewable energy (RE) developments – as well as a focus for hydrocarbons and minerals investments – when he opens the International Exhibition for Extractive and Energy Resources in Ivory Coast (Sirexe) in Abidjan on 27 November. In analysis based on African Energy Live Data’s research, African Energy in October said Côte d’Ivoire was turning to RE and regional interconnections to meet the challenges posed by increasing demand from the national grid and commercial consumers, climate volatility (which has impacted on hydroelectric power) and a lack of gas feedstock in its traditional source of supply. This multi-faceted challenge has concentrated Ivorian officials’ focus on increasing RE capacity, promoting a move away from CdI’s longstanding reliance on hydroelectric and thermal generation. Appointed PM by President Alassane Dramane Ouattara on 17 October 2023, 72 year-old Beugré Mambé qualified as a civil engineer; he served from 2011 as governor of Abidjan Autonomous District (the Département dAbidjan, which governs the commercial capital) until becoming head of government. Sirexe 2024 runs until 2 December at the Parc des Expositions d’Abidjan.
