Work Detail Saudi Aramco’s Chief Executive and President Eng. Amin Hassan Nasser emphasized the critical need to balance security, cost, and sustainability in the energy sector during a panel at the fourth annual Saudi Green Initiative Forum in Riyadh. The event, themed “Action is in Our Nature,” coincided with the 16th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP16). In his session, titled “Transition Strategy 2.0: A New Energy Framework,” Nasser called for a pragmatic approach to energy transition, stressing the importance of integrating oil, natural gas, and renewable energy sources to ensure efficiency. He highlighted Aramco’s leadership in emissions reduction, particularly the company’s efforts to eliminate gas flaring since the 1970s, positioning Aramco as a global leader in low-emission oil and gas production. Nasser also reinforced the company’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, urging all stakeholders to focus on the interconnected challenges of providing affordable energy, ensuring supply security, and achieving sustainability. He pointed out that many countries, especially in the Global South, face significant energy access challenges, with over 2 billion people lacking access to clean cooking fuels and millions facing electricity disruptions. “These pressing issues should be central to discussions about the energy transition,” Nasser stressed. Aramco continues to lead with a vision that aligns its energy approach with sustainability goals, emphasizing the need for inclusive and affordable energy solutions.
