Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a leading renewable energy company in India and a subsidiary of Tata Power, has commissioned a 431 MW DC solar project in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh. This project, secured through a competitive bidding process, is considered one of the most cost-effective large-scale solar initiatives in the country. Spread over 1,635.63 acres, this solar project is the first in India to use advanced technology combining single-axis trackers with bi-facial modules. This setup increases system efficiency by over 15% and ensures peak power supply for longer hours, setting a new standard for solar energy in the country. Despite challenges like rocky terrain, transmission line setup, and remote location logistics, the project was successfully completed with an innovative approach.

The project supports sustainability by offsetting approximately 7,80,300 tonnes of CO2 and is built to top engineering standards. Simultaneous SCADA commissioning ensures optimal performance, while CEA compliance allows smooth operation of the Static Var Generator (SVG). Harmonic filters ensure adherence to WRLDC standards. The project provides reliable power to Western Central Railways and Madhya Pradesh Power Management Co. Ltd., strengthening the region’s energy infrastructure. With this milestone, TPREL’s total renewable energy capacity has grown to 10.9 GW, including 5.5 GW of projects under development. Its operational capacity now stands at 5.4 GW, consisting of 4.4 GW from solar and 1 GW from wind energy projects. |
