Work Detail The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a slope protection structure along Susubaen Creek, aimed at preventing flooding and safeguarding the community and agricultural lands in Ramos, Tarlac. Known as a hub for rice and corn production, the Municipality of Ramos faces recurring flooding issues that threaten its farming communities and local economy, prompting the need to invest in long-term flood control measures. In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region III Director Roseller A. Tolentino said that this flood control project involves slope protection and road enhancement components, such as surface courses, earthworks, bank and slope protection work, and drainage system, designed to strengthen defenses against rise of flooding. “An integral component of this design is the hydraulic gate to effectively control water flow within the system, ensuring improved water distribution across the area,” Director Tolentino added. Funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the P47.8-million project is expected to provide residents with enhanced livelihood and improved accessibility, fostering a safer and more prosperous community.
