The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently built a protective slope structure intended to safeguard the riverside of Barangay Culat in the Municipality of Casiguran, Aurora, from potential flood risks.
This P49-million flood control project spans 266.10 linear meters, completed with sheet piles, grouted riprap, and ramps with concrete pavement.
According to a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan by DPWH Region 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, this new structure channels excess water away from residential areas, helping to mitigate flooding and protect properties and homes.
“This project was carefully designed to provide a durable defense against the heavy rainfall and overflow from nearby rivers that frequently threaten the area,” Regional Director Tolentino said.
The DPWH Aurora District Engineering Office carried out the construction of the flood control project in Barangay Culat in Casiguran, Aurora from March 2023 to March 2024. |
