Work Detail |
Cityheart, the housing, regeneration and placemaking development specialist, has entered into a development agreement with East Herts District Council to deliver a transformational mixed-use town centre redevelopment on the Old River Lane site in Bishop’s Stortford.
Cityheart will develop a detailed masterplan for the site, which is entirely owned by East Herts District Council. The project envisions creating a vibrant residential and commercial hub with new homes and offices. Ground floors of the residential buildings will host retail and workspace units, complemented by parking spaces for residents and office users. Additionally, a new internal road, accessed via Link Road on the sites west, will connect to the Waitrose car park, aiming to ease traffic on Old River Lane and improve accessibility for the new development. The development, projected to exceed GBP70 million (US$89 million), will feature 145 new homes alongside approximately 40,000 square feet of retail and office space. A new internal road, accessible from Link Road on the sites west side, will create an additional entry point to the Waitrose car park. This infrastructure aims to ease traffic flow along Old River Lane and enhance access for residents of the new development.
Cityheart will be working with an experienced design and build team to deliver the scheme, including Kier Construction, main contractor; Howells, architect; MM Management, project manager and quantity surveyor; Geraint John Planning; Caneparo, transport Engineer; Curtins, civil and structural engineers and flood consultants; Ridge, M&E consultants; DEP, landscape architects; Cotswold Archaeology, heritage consultants. |
