Work Detail SES is the first retailer in Taiwan to secure a CPPA for offshore wind energy. Sino-American Silicon Products (SAS) and its subsidiary, Sustainable Energy Solution (SES), have signed a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ (CIP) Fengmiao I offshore wind farm. This marks a first in Taiwan in which a parent company and its subsidiary jointly procure offshore wind energy – a significant step in renewable energy adoption. SES is the first retailer in Taiwan to secure a CPPA for offshore wind energy. Fengmiao I, located 35km offshore Taichung City, will install 33 advanced wind turbines. APAC regional partner for CIP’s flagship funds and chairman of Fengmiao stated: “Fengmiao I is a benchmark project in Taiwan’s offshore wind development. The project stands out as the most progressed Round 3 project with engineering and procurement advanced, and strong interest shown from the domestic and international financing markets. “These achievements reflect confidence from the supply chain, lenders and government in the project’s ability to achieve a timely grid connection. This trust has solidified Fengmiao I as the green energy partner of choice for prominent enterprises like SAS Group.” Renewable energy projects such as Fengmiao I benefit from Taiwan’s climate, with abundant sunshine in summer and strong monsoon winds in winter. SAS and SES are leveraging Taiwan’s geographic benefits by integrating offshore wind power from CIP with solar energy, enhancing their renewable energy portfolio. The combination of offshore wind and solar energy ensures a reliable energy supply, meeting business demands and increasing the renewable energy proportion in the overall mix. SAS and SES chairperson Doris Hsu stated: “SES is committed to integrating green energy supply and demand, offering clients flexible and diverse renewable energy solutions. “By combining the stable nighttime supply of offshore wind power with the high-efficiency daytime generation of solar energy, enterprises can not only increase their renewable energy utilisation but also accelerate their energy transformation efforts. This ensures they meet the demands of a sustainable green supply chain.” The initiative supports corporate energy transformation and aligns with global net-zero sustainability goals, offering a flexible green energy solution for the group and its supply chain partners.
