Work Detail Norway’s Shearwater GeoServices has been awarded a major contract for a 2D seismic survey covering 15,500 line kilometres along the continental shelf margin off India’s west coast. According to Shearwater, the project forms a part of India’s National Seismic Program (NSP), which seeks to map unappraised offshore regions. The Bergen-based geophysical services company will deploy the SW Thuridur for the operation. Survey activities are scheduled to last five months starting in Q4 2024. “At Shearwater we are pleased to continue to support India’s National Seismic Program by delivering this important 2D project,” said Irene Waage Basili, CEO of Shearwater. “The data acquired will not only advance understanding of unappraised areas but will also lay the groundwork for future 3D seismic acquisition programs. Our expertise ensures that we are well-positioned to deliver data in line with India’s seismic acquisition objectives.” In February, Shearwater GeoServices was hired to conduct a 3D seismic survey assignment off the east coast of India by the country’s government-owned energy giant, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), as well as to deliver an ocean bottom node (OBN) survey. In August, the company secured a contract extension of the “major” deepwater OBN survey off the coast of India. In terms of other recent news coming from Shearwater, the Norwegian company secured a 3D seismic survey in Suriname with Malaysia’s state-owned energy giant Petronas, covering an expansive 6,000-square-kilometer area.
