The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of NRJ Mabuhay-San Lorenzo Road, which leads to Bega Park and Resort, Ugnop Caves, Hapon Falls, Tugonan Falls, and San Lorenzo Hot Spring in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region XIII Director Pol M. Delos Santos, said that the road project, funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA) with a contract amount of P92.6 million, enhances the connectivity and significantly boost tourism in the area.
The road construction is divided into two (2) key sections: Section 1, measuring 1.09 kilometer, connects the existing road network to popular scenic attractions, while Section 2, spanning 1.55 kilometer, extends through challenging terrains to improve access to natural wonders like Ugnop Caves and Tugonan Falls.
The road project was constructed with Portland cement concrete pavement designed for long-term durability. Safety measures such as reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings, metal beam guardrails, and proper drainage systems were installed to ensure road reliability and safety.
“With the road construction now completed, residents and tourists can look forward to improved travel experiences and the continued growth of Agusan del Sur’s tourism sector,” said Director Delos Santos.
