Work Detail The Government of Manitoba announced the release of its $500-million 2024-25 advertising schedule for construction and material supply tenders, at the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association’s (MHCA) awards breakfast. “After a year of more new roads, bridges and important infrastructure to drive our economy, our government is pleased to announce the schedule for next year’s construction tenders,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor. “These new projects will be essential to build a stronger Manitoba, and this announcement will ensure our construction partners can plan in advance, saving Manitobans money while also ensuring timely and high-quality construction of our infrastructure.” The 2024-25 planned construction highlights include: bituminous rehabilitation on Provincial Road (PR) 224 from PR 325 to Fisher Bay; bituminous reconstruction on southbound Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 75 from the Canada-U.S. border to 6.6 kilometres north of PTH 14; runway rehabilitation at Oxford House Airport; flood pump station replacement at Emerson-West Lynne Dike; structure replacement on Trans-Canada Highway at the Brokenhead River, 28 kilometres east of PTH 12 (east of Richer); and structure replacement on PTH 5 over the Assiniboine River, 11 kilometers north of PTH 2 (at Spruce Woods). At the MHCA breakfast, the minister also presented awards for a number of construction projects and congratulated winners and nominees for their work in building quality infrastructure for Manitoba. The 2024 winners in their respective categories are: Paving: GIP Paving Inc. O/A Russell Redi-Mix Concrete — bituminous rehabilitation of PTH 2 from PR 240 to PTH 13; Urban Works: Russell Redi-Mix Concrete — bituminous reconstruction of PTH 5A from Triangle Road to Whitmore Avenue in Dauphin; Special Projects: Strilkiwski Contracting Ltd — asphalt surface treatment of Provincial Access Road 620 from PR 391 to Nelson House; Major Structures: Green Infrastructure Partners (Russell Redi-Mix Concrete) — Daly Overpass Grade Separation Facility on PTH 10 in Brandon; Minor Structures: ArmCon Ltd. — Epinette Creek reinforced concrete box culvert on PTH 5; and Water Infrastructure Projects: PCL Construction Inc. — Wanipigow Dam structure replacement west of Bisset. “We very much appreciate the release, in fall, of the tender ad schedule for the coming season because early notice allows the industry to let its employees know they’ll be coming back to jobs,” said Chris Lorenc, president and CEO, Manitoba Heavy Construction Association. “It also means the industry can get better prices on materials, which means more competitive bids on government tenders.”
