Work Detail Its location is proposed in the Valparaíso region, with an investment of 300 million dollars. The Chilean Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) has approved the project Battery Energy Storage System – BESS La Isla, with a nominal power of 250 MW and a total capacity of 1,250 MWh, to be located on 5.6 hectares in the commune of Llay Llay, province of San Felipe, Valparaíso region. According to the documentation submitted, the system will use lithium ferrophosphate (LFP) battery technology and will consist of 312 shipping containers, each with a capacity of 4 MWh. It is added that it is designed to be integrated with the National Electric System (SEN) through a 110 kV step-up substation and a 583-meter underground power line that will be connected to the Río Aconcagua substation. The objective of the project, it is stated, is to participate in the energy and power markets, and provide flexibility, security, sufficiency and economic efficiency to the National Electric System, thus continuing with the mission of accelerated decarbonization in Chile. The estimated investment is 2.3 billion dollars, with the expected start date of November 3 of next year.
