In a new weekly update for pv magazine , OPIS, a Dow Jones company, provides a quick look at key price trends in the global PV industry.
FOB China : The Chinese Module Marker (CMM), OPIS benchmark assessment for TOPCon modules from China, remained stable at $0.087/W Free-On-Board (FOB) China, with price indications between $0.085-$0.095/W.
Several top-tier manufacturers raised their bid prices following news of the reduction in export tax credits on photovoltaic products from 13% to 9%, effective from December 1. Affected products include monocrystalline silicon wafers larger than 15.24 cm in diameter and photovoltaic cells, both assembled and unassembled in modules.
One of China’s top five manufacturers told OPIS that the reduction in discounts has prompted contract renegotiations, although its full impact is still being assessed. Meanwhile, another industry source suggested that a reduction in discounts is unlikely to alleviate the problem of oversupply in China, as manufacturers could pass on the extra costs to buyers.
In other news, the Brazilian government raised the import tariff on photovoltaic cells assembled in modules outside the quota from 9.6% to 25% for certain companies. However, the tariff within the quota will remain at 0% until June 30, 2025.
DDP Europe : TOPCon module prices decreased by 0.99%, with average values ??evaluated at €0.100 ($104.7)/W and ranging from a low of €0.080/W to a high of €0.115/W for Tier 1 panels.
According to sources, prices from sellers “seeking to quickly reduce their stocks” have reached new lows of 0.055 euros/Wp, even exceeding the threshold of 0.06 euros/Wp.
Drewrys published freight rates for the China/East Asia-Northern Europe ocean route rose 2% this week to $4,043 per forty-foot equivalent unit (FEU). This corresponds to $0.0095/W.
US DDP : Prices remain stable week-over-week, with OPIS assessing the spot price for DPP US utility-scale TOPCon modules at $0.285/W, while forward guidance shows the slightly higher price in Q1 2025 at $0.296/W and Mono PERC modules for the same delivery period at $0.284/W.
As the industry continues to digest the news of Donald Trump’s victory and its implications for future US energy policy, the import market is largely quiet. A senior developer source said the spot price for utility-scale TOPCon modules remains at around $0.22-$0.23/W for delivery from Indonesia and Laos, $0.25-$0.26/W from India, and $0.28-$0.30/W from Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand.
According to an installation source, prices for US-assembled Mono PERC residential modules using imported cells range from $0.20 to $0.30. The source is currently evaluating a deal to source US modules by 2025 from a Tier 1 manufacturer at a price of $0.20 to $0.30.
The same source noted that spot prices for Southeast Asian residential modules remain in the $10-$0.20/W range as manufacturers continue to try to sell their inventories, adding that much of the lower-priced merchandise could be subject to tariff risk related to the Dec. 3 use-by date. |
