Work Detail | Offshore drillers Borr Drilling and Shelf Drilling have each received a notice of temporary suspension of operations for one jackup rig from Saudi giant Aramco. Borr Drilling received a notice for its Arabia II jackup. The rig has been employed by the Saudi firm since October 2022 and was set to end its deal in October 2025. The company added in a statement that the start date of the suspension is yet to be confirmed by Aramco. Suspension for both rigs will be for a period of up to 12 months. Shelf Drilling was given a notice for its High Island IV jackup. The rig has been on hire with Aramco since February 2020 until November this year. If the suspension goes for the full year, it is scheduled to resume operations in November next year 2024 and work for the company until July 2031. Borr Drilling said that it had the right to market the rig during the suspension which is expected to begin in late November 2024. The suspensions come on top of the temporary suspensions given to Borr Drilling’s Arabia I rig and a quartet of Shelf Drilling jackups in April this year. |
