Chiles Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) has approved the project "Battery Energy Storage System – BESS La Isla", which proposes a nominal power of 250 MW and a total capacity of 1,250 MWh, to be located on 5.6 hectares in the commune of Llay Llay, province of San Felipe, Valparaíso region.
The project, which proposes an investment of 300 million dollars, will capture electric energy from the Río Aconcagua substation "or from another available future source" and then inject it into the National Electric System (SEN).
The system will be equipped with lithium ferrophosphate (LFP) batteries and will consist of 312 maritime containers, each with a capacity of 4 MWh, and will be integrated into the SEN through a 110 kV booster substation and a 583-meter underground power line that will be connected to the Río Aconcagua substation.
With a useful life of 30 years, the estimated start date of construction is November 2025. |
