Road work to replace culverts and make safety improvements on three highways in the area is set to begin Monday Sept. 12. A project on Wisconsin Highway 175, just south of U.S. 151 near Panorama Drive, will include replacement of two failing culvert pipes and retaining walls with a 60-inch pipe, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Beamguard will also be eliminated, and slopes will be flattened to provide a safer crossing for motorists. WIS 175 will be closed and detoured until the end of September, when the project is expected to be finished. The detour route will use County B to I-41 to U.S. 151. Access will be maintained to local businesses and residents throughout the project. The project is estimated to cost $130,000. The U.S. 151 and Wisconsin Highway 49 interchange near Waupun will be also be improved starting Monday. The project will replace the existing asphalt surface on the highways. The installation of safety rumble strips, new pavement markings and upgrades to rails will also be made. Single lane closures will occur on U.S. 151 in the work zone and speeds will be reduced to 55 mph. The interchange access ramps will be closed at various times and will be detoured to the U.S. 151 and Wisconsin Highway 26 interchanges as needed. Message boards will be deployed in advance of the ramp closures. Work on Wisconsin Highway 49 will be performed under flagging operations. The project, set to be completed Oct. 12, costs $586,000. |
