Work Detail Road construction will begin on Schooley’s Mountain Road on or about Monday, Sept. 12 and will continue for about four weeks.

Work will continue from 9 a.m to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday on the work zone which stretches from the Springtown Road intersection to Newburgh Road. During those hours, Schooley’s Mountain Road will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic with police assistance while the milling and resurfacing is done, said a statement.

At the end of the workday, the roadway will be open to two lanes of traffic. Motorists should plan alternate routes and expect traffic congestion in the area. The project, which is being completed by Konkus Corp. of Chester, is under the direction of the Morris County Department of Planning and Public Works Division of Engineering and Transportation.

• Two Jersey City men were charged with marijuana possession after their car was stopped for allegedly speeding on Sunday, Sept. 4.

Patrol Officer Derek Heymer stopped a vehicle on Route 46 for speeding and having unclear license plates at 1:10 a.m.

Heymer allegedly saw a backseat passenger, Marco Martinez, 19 of Jersey City, trying to hide a marijuana cigarette. During the investigation, Heymer allegeldy located more marijuana and determined that the driver, Ines Ifegous, 20, of Jersey City was driving under the influence of drugs.

Ifegous was charged with driving under the influence, driving with an open container of an alcoholic beverage, speeding and having unclear plates. Martinez was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. Both were released pending a municipal court date.

• A Parsippany man was charged with drug possession after his car was stopped on Friday, Sept 2, for allegedly not keeping right on Route 46.

Officer Daniel Parrish stopped a grey sedan traveling West on Route 46 , at 3:08 a.m. While speaking with driver Malcolm Udoh, 19, of Parsippany, Parrish allegedly smelled marijuana. Upon further investigation the officer allegedly discovered Udoh to be in possession of marijuana, along with a grinder. Udoh was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to keep right and possession of drugs in a vehicle. He was released pending an appearance in Municipal Court.
