Work Detail ePlane Company, a flying taxi startup, has successfully raised $14 million in funding, co-led by Speciale Invest and Antares Ventures, with additional support from Micelio Mobility, Naval Ravikant, Java Capital, Samarthya Investment Advisor, Redstart (from Naukri), and Anicut. This funding round propels ePlane closer to its goal of becoming India’s largest player in the eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) market. The capital will be directed towards achieving global regulatory certifications and accelerating the commercialisation of ePlane’s technology. Specifically, the funds will support the development and certification of ePlanes manned aircraft, with flight testing expected to begin in mid-2025. The company plans to expand its drone technology commercialization through a wholly owned subsidiary and enhance its prototyping and testing facilities to meet global eVTOL standards. Professor Satya Chakravarthy, Founder and CEO of ePlane, expressed his gratitude for the support, noting, "This funding is a major milestone for ePlane as we work to redefine urban mobility and lead the charge in India’s eVTOL sector. With safety, sustainability, and innovation at the core of our strategy, we are bringing aerial mobility closer to reality." Vishesh Rajaram, Managing Partner at Speciale Invest, praised ePlanes leadership and innovation in the eVTOL space, adding, "ePlane’s commitment to solving urban mobility challenges through sustainable, tech-driven solutions will be transformative, reshaping urban transport both in India and globally." ePlane’s first manned prototype is expected to be developed and undergo trials by April 2025. This new funding follows a previous $5 million pre-series A round in January 2022, also led by Speciale Invest and Micelio. With the support of its investors, ePlane is on track to revolutionize the future of urban transport with its cutting-edge eVTOL technology.
