The investment in public works includes more than 1,000 buildings, including schools, hospitals, Aysam works and roads. It will not include the US$ 1.023 million in compensation.
The Mendoza Government announced an ambitious public works plan, which, although it already began in 2024, projects a historic investment of more than $352 billion for 2025, not counting compensation funds.
The plan aims to "improve the quality of life of the people of Mendoza by transforming the economic and social infrastructure," authorities announced during the annual dinner of the Argentine Chamber of Construction.
As part of the mega-investment, it is planned to intervene in more than 1,000 buildings, including schools, hospitals and community centers.
Health centres and more housing are also among the priorities for investment in public works during 2025.

In October, the Government presented a 2025 budget with a guideline of 12% investment in public works.
The Ministry of Infrastructure stressed that this year the budget allowed for interventions throughout the territory and being "almost the only province in the country that did not stop its works plan independently of the Nation.
The government highlighted this as an achievement "thanks to the fiscal order that Mendoza has had for more than 8 years."

The most ambitious public works plan in recent years
Regarding the public works carried out so far, a large part of it was carried out by companies that make up the Argentine Chamber of Construction, now awaiting the launch of the new investment phase.
Part of the cost was school infrastructure, which included more than 900 buildings that required work. These were mostly general repairs, maintenance and adaptations of the facilities.
By 2025, the budget will include the works planned in addition to those financed by compensation funds for industrial promotion (US$ 1,023 million).
"This is the most ambitious infrastructure plan in recent years," the Executive stressed.
In fact, 49 projects are expected to be completed and 52 new ones to be undertaken by 2025. According to official forecasts, almost 50% of these will be put out to tender before the end of the year.
As for the axes, the plan includes schools, health centres, investment in security, roads, and water and sanitation. And as regards housing construction, there are more than 3,000 underway and due to be completed soon.
All of this suggests that the Executive is considering exceeding a total investment of more than $352 billion in infrastructure in the 2025 budget.
Compensation Funds: Aysam and Vialidad, priorities
The plan adds to what the Government has already decided to do with the so-called Compensation funds, no more and no less than the US$ 1,023 million that the Nation transferred in installments in a timely manner and that were initially going to be used for the construction of the Portezuelo del Viento megaproject.
With that money, five tenders for works by Aysam and Vialidad Provincial have already been launched.
Aysam secured three projects: the expansion of the treatment plant in General Alvear, the optimization of the Gran Mendoza Terraza-Las Cañas (Guaymallén) distribution network, and stage 2 of the Los Barrancos drinking water supply system in Godoy Cruz.
For its part, the Highway Department will carry out two other projects with the compensation funds. One is the repaving of Provincial Route 171, in the Monte Comán-Real del Padre section, in San Rafael, and the other, the repaving of Provincial Route 153 in the Ñacuñán-Monte Comán section, which connects Santa Rosa and San Rafael.
Another 13 projects will be put out to tender during the remainder of the year and in the first quarter of 2025 to complete the first 18 announced, while, it was announced, "work continues on projects to launch a second batch."
An investment of $39 billion is projected for 2025, which represents an increase of 100% compared to the previous year. This increase will allow for interventions in 1,000 buildings according to the defined budget. |
