Work Detail According to reports, Morocco’s large-scale hydrogen project is the first of its kind in Morocco. It showcases the nation’s remarkable renewable potential and advances its economic growth. Morocco is spearheading the global energy revolution and has all the necessary foundations to become a vital partner for Europe and the rest of the world. Furthermore, the nation holds the potential of reaching its net zero goals. Philip Christiani, partner at CIP, commented, “We at Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners are incredibly honored to be chosen to create the first green hydrogen project under the” Offre Maroc” framework. CIP is part of this initiative alongside other companies such as Total Energies H2 and AP Moller Capital. The partners have linked a preliminary agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco’s government in order to reserve land for the Chbika project. The project will be situated in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region close to the Atlantic coast. One of the reasons is because the area has the best climate for solar and wind energy generation. Scope of Work on Morocco’s Large-Scale Hydrogen Project Morocco’s large-scale hydrogen project aims to electrolyze desalinated seawater and turn it into 200,000 tons of green ammonia annually for the European market. Through this, they are able to produce green hydrogen. Additionally, the project intends to construct 1GW of onshore and wind capacity. According to Total Energies, this opening move will be the first stage of a development program that aims to become a global center for the production of green hydrogen. AP Moller Capital will build the port and related infrastructure, while TE H2 and CIP will develop renewable energy generation. This includes green hydrogen and its derivatives, such as solar and wind. TERMA will gradually raise its capital from 9 million dirhams to over 10.7 billion dirhams over three years in tandem with the project’s execution. Moreover, this enormous investment also makes it abundantly evident that the business believes Morocco can produce sustainable energy. This project also shows Total Energies’ strong commitment to the development of renewable energy. The issuance of the first financial tranche demonstrates TotalEnergies’ resolve to see this key project through to completion. Furthermore, it aligns with Moroccan authorities’ efforts to ease the land release.
