Canadian energy company Enbridge Inc (TSE:ENB) announced today it has sanctioned the 815-MW Sequoia solar project in Texas, which will be one of the largest solar projects in North America when completed.
The USD-1.1-billion (EUR 1.01bn) development has secured long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with telecommunications company AT&T and carmaker Toyota for most of its production, Enbridge said in its third-quarter report on Friday.
Located 150 miles (241 km) west of Dallas, the solar park is expected to be brought online in two phases, in 2025 and 2026.
According to the announcement, the construction of the project is significantly de-risked thanks to preliminary equipment and procurement contracts. Key permits and purchase orders have also been executed.
