| Work Detail | Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer is all set to launch the highly anticipated facelift avatar of its mid-size sedan, the A4 in India today. The makeover that the car has received includes certain modifications to the car’s exterior in tune with Audi’s latest design philosophy along with a significant upgrade to provided to the vehicle’s cabin as well. With this makeover, the all new Audi A4 promises to be a whole lot better that the outgoing model. We first saw the glimpse of this sedan at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015 while the same was also showcased at this year’s Delhi Auto Expo. The exterior design of the all new Audi A4 takes its inspiration from the one that we see on the Audi’s more recent models like the R8, TT and the Q7. The sedan is based on Volkswagen’s MLB Evo platform and is expected to be 100Kgs lighter than the model which it will replace. Dimensionally, the all new Audi A4 will measure 4,726mm in length, 1,842mm in width, 1,427mm in height and boasts of a wheelbase that clocks at 2,820mm. Some of the modifications done to the latest generation saloon includes all new designed headlamps, revised alloy wheels, a sloping roofline, single-frame grille, a chrome strip within the waistline and compact LED tail lights. The India bound vehicle will get matrix LED headlamps as optional rather than a standard fitment. Audi has completely refreshed the dashboard layout which is now a lot sharper and contemporary to look at if we compare it to the previous generation’s. You get a familiar Audi steering wheel, however now it is a three spoke affair rather than a four spoke one. The next-gen Audi A4 features with a wide array of creature comforts on board. The revamped centre console gets a new full TFT touchscreen multimedia system with navigation enabled, that sits proudly on top of it. It offers all forms of connectivity across all cellular platforms. The India spec model will also get Audi’s Virtual cockpit as standard. Along with this there three-zone automatic climate control, tilt and telescopic steering wheel adjust, sunroof, ambient LED interior lighting to name a few. Also Read: New Audi A4 – First Drive Report Talking about the safety equipment on board, the all new Audi A4 will get a total of 6 airbags and there is ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution), tire-pressure monitoring system besides the others. For now, the all new Audi A4 will be launched in India only in the petrol avatar. Powering this saloon will be a 1.4-litre TFSi engine. This power unit is capable enough to pump out 148Bhp along with a peak torque of 250Nm. Audi will introduce the diesel derivative at a latter stage and is likely to equip it with the 2.0-litre TDi motor. Transmission responsibilities will be handled by an 8-speed manual gearbox as standard. In addition to which the automaker has also provided the option of am 8-speed S-Tronic automatic gearbox as well. The prices of the all New Audi A4 are expected to fall under the bracket of INR 30lakh to INR 40lakh (ex-showroom) which will make it compete against the likes of Mercedes Benz C-Class, BMW 3-Serie and the Jaguar XE. |
