Work Detail Norwegian offshore seismic contractor Shearwater Geoservices has been awarded a large 3D seismic survey by Malaysian energy player Petronas in Suriname. The project, covering 6,000 square kilometres, marks the continuation of the company’s work for Petronas in this frontier area having previously performed acquisition work in Block 52. Shearwater said that its Amazon Warrior vessel has been allocated to the three-month project, beginning in the fourth quarter of 2024. “High-quality seismic data is a key enabler for unlocking the vast resource potential of the prolific Suriname-Guyana basin and accelerating exploration activities,” said Irene Waage Basili, CEO of Shearwater. This is the company’s second survey deal in under a week. Shearwater won a deepwater OBN survey in West Africa also set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024. It will be the first to utilise the SW Tasman’s combined seismic source and dual ROV node deployment capability in a single vessel deepwater OBN survey operation.
