Work Detail The two wind farms will generate 1.1TWh of renewable energy annually. ACCIONA Energía has expanded its portfolio in the US by acquiring two additional wind farms in Texas with a total joint capacity of 300MW. The wind projects, Green Pastures I (150MW) and Green Pastures II (also 150MW), are situated in Baylor and Knox Counties in the north-central area of the state. The $202.5m acquisition substantially boosts ACCIONA Energía’s installed capacity in the US. The projects are fully operational and were purchased from several private asset management firms. Together, the two wind farms will produce around 1.1 terawatt hours (TWh) of renewable energy annually. Green Pastures I and II are integrated into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas grid, which oversees 90% of the state’s electricity transmission, distribution and commercialisation. These two new wind farms are now part of ACCIONA Energía’s renewable energy portfolio in North America, where the company already has 2.8GW of installed capacity. This acquisition further strengthens ACCIONA Energía’s role as a key contributor to the US energy transition. The location of the projects is strategically advantageous, enhancing the company’s fleet through improved geographical diversification. In July 2024, ACCIONA Energía reached an agreement to sell its Spanish hydroelectric portfolio, under the Acciona Saltos de Agua, SL group (ASA), to Elawan Energy for €287m ($310m). ASA’s portfolio includes 23 hydroelectric plants with a total installed capacity of 175MW, spread across the regions of Aragón, Cantabria and Cataluña.
