Work Detail Envalior, a leading global player in sustainable engineering materials, has announced its partnership with the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. This collaboration aligns with the launch of Envalior’s new Sustainability Ambitions, which aim to solidify its role as a frontrunner in sustainability across various industries. Formed through the merger of DSM Engineering Materials and LANXESS High Performance Materials, Envalior is dedicated to providing high-performance manufacturing material solutions. The company’s sustainability goals include achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2030, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2030, and reaching net-zero emissions by 2040. Furthermore, Envalior plans to offer a complete portfolio of bio-based and recycled alternatives by 2030. “Sustainability is a key priority in our strategy, and we want to make that visible to the world,” said Günter Margraf, Director of Sustainability at Envalior. “Meeting these ambitions will enable us to realize the huge transformation that is ahead of us and help our customers on their sustainability journey.” As a participant in the UN Global Compact, Envalior commits to adhering to ten universal principles that promote human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption measures. The company will share annual progress reports to showcase its adherence to these principles. Chief Executive Officer Calum McLean expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “It is exciting to confirm that Envalior supports the United Nations Global Compact and its principles. Making it part of the strategy, culture, and day-to-day operations of our company, and engaging in collaborative projects that advance the broader development goals of the United Nations is vital.” In alignment with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Envalior is dedicated to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on those with the greatest impact from its business activities. These include SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Envalior’s commitment to achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2030 will significantly contribute to SDG 7. The company has implemented initiatives such as renewable power purchase agreements and solar panel installations to clean its electricity consumption. Additionally, its nitrous oxide reduction plant in Antwerp, Belgium, is projected to save approximately 450,000 tons of CO2 equivalent annually, underscoring the company’s dedication to reducing its carbon footprint. These efforts mark just a few of the numerous initiatives Envalior is pursuing to lead the charge in sustainability within the engineering materials sector.
