The Australian state of Victoria has approved the first phase of a $1.1bn “anti-ageing utopia” in Melbourne’s Docklands, the Urban Developer website reports.
The 2.7ha Elysium Fields project, which is being developed by Gurner Group, will begin with three residential high rises containing 700 homes, and will eventually expand to contain about 1,100 units.
The first tower will be built by Victorian contractor Hamilton Marino, and will contain 250 luxury apartments. Site preparation will begin this month, and the flats will be marketed early next year.
Elysium Fields will include a glass dome, inspired by a vision of an eternal paradise.
As well as the apartments, it will offer advanced wellness technologies to help residents withstand the ravages of time.
These will include cryotherapy, intravenous infusions, saunas, red light therapy and personalised health plans.
There will also be a clinic with diagnostic technology such as MRI scanners.
The development will also promote ambient wellness by means of air and water purifiers and circadian lighting, attuned to the body’s daily rhythm.
There will be shops and leisure amenities, a 100-room four-star hotel and a 250-room five-star hotel, both located in the development’s main tower.
Gurner describes the project as a “transformative opportunity” for Melbourne’s Docklands.
The developer plans to launch US$2.3bn of projects over the next year, anticipating a surge in demand stimulated by falling interest rates and the city’s persistent housing shortage. |
