Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has announced the Preferred and reserve Bidders for the development of Ras Mohaisen Independent Water Plant (IWP) located in Ras Mohaisen, 300 km south of Makkah, on the coast of the Red Sea in the Western Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
SWPC announces that the consortium of ACWA Power, Haji Abdullah Alireza & Partners Company, and AlKifah Holding is the preferred Bidder, and Acciona Company is the reserve Bidder. Ras Mohaisen IWP will produce 300,000 m3/day of potable water. It will also feature storage tanks with a capacity of 600,000 cubic meters and an electrical substation. The power supply for the project will be facilitated by Saudi Electricity Company’s high-voltage network. The developers scope of work includes development, financing, procurement, implementation, operation and maintenance of the Project. SWPC will purchase the output and entire capacity of the project, under a Water Purchase Agreement (WPA) for a period of 25 years. The Commercial Operation Date of the project is expected to be in Q2, 2028.
The desalination project, based on seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) technology, will be developed in two phases: Phase 1 will have a capacity of 100,000 m3/day while Phase 2 will have a capacity of 200,000 m3/day. The project will serve one million people across the regions of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Baha. It will also be linked to the Ras Mohaisen – Baha –Makkah Water Transmission Pipeline and Hali Dam Water Transmission Pipeline. |
