The Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services of Córdoba held the opening of bids for the tendering of the works for the redevelopment of the Arroyo El Manantial Canal, which runs through the General San Martín and Unión Departments.
The main objective of this project is to mitigate the effects of rainfall, prevent flooding and flooding, and protect localities and the rural and urban infrastructure in the area.
With a 12-month execution period and an official budget of $3,626,491,148.49, the work seeks to optimize the existing channeling system, improving the runoff of excess water and avoiding overflows that affect agricultural land and rural roads. Four bidders were presented to carry out the work: Anka-Loo Construcciones SRL, Poramba – Consorcio de Cooperación, UCONS SRL, VADIEG SA
The work is being carried out as part of the continuation of the interventions previously carried out in the areas upstream of National Route No. 158. The project includes the cleaning, re-adaptation and expansion of the conduction capacity in a 52-kilometer stretch, currently affected by sedimentation and vegetation that hinder the flow of water.
Among the most relevant technical aspects, the re-adaptation of the sewers along the canal stands out, many of which have reduced sections that contribute to the problem of overflows and flooding. Likewise, the construction of embankments to contain the overflows and the improvement of rural roads that have been affected by the flooding is contemplated.
The El Manantial Canal is a key infrastructure for the drainage of excess water in a vast basin in the centre of the province of Córdoba, so this work is essential to guarantee the transitability of roads and protect the agricultural production activity of the region.
Upon completion of the work, it is expected that the cross-section of the canal and the sewers will be uniform, as well as a significant improvement in the water-conducting capacity.
Present at the envelope opening ceremony were the Secretary of Water Infrastructure, Edgar Castelló; the Secretary of Infrastructure Coordination, Gustavo Brandán; the President of the Provincial Administration of Water Resources (APRHi), Guillermo Vilchez; the Undersecretary of Municipalities, Natalio Graglia and the legislator, Abraham Galo.
This project reinforces the provincial governments commitment to improving water infrastructure that directly impacts the well-being of communities.
