Work Detail |
Officials from the Karnataka government conducted an inspection on Tuesday of the ongoing construction work for the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project at Kanakanagar. The inspection team included Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, Managing Director of K-RIDE Manjula N, and other senior officials from K-RIDE, focusing on Corridor 2 of the project.
During the inspection, Chief Secretary Rajneesh highlighted the projects significance, stating, "This construction exemplifies a strategic infrastructure advancement for high-traffic urban areas where space constraints make traditional options like road over bridges impractical. The entire section serves as a poster example of the BSRP, demonstrating what can be achieved through efficient planning, innovation, and a commitment to serving society. We are dedicated to delivering a world-class transportation system that enhances the lives of Bengalurus residents and commuters."
According to K-RIDE (Rail Infrastructure Development Company, Karnataka), the construction along Corridor 2 from Kanakanagar to Hebbal introduces an innovative solution to eliminate level crossings in a densely populated area, where building a road over bridge is not feasible due to urban density.
"Instead, the entire section of rail will be elevated, allowing for the removal of level crossings without disrupting the surrounding community. This strategy is a first in the country and promises to significantly enhance the efficiency of rail transport," the company stated.
Regarding the execution plan, officials noted that construction will initially focus on the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project (BSRP) side. Once this section is completed, Indian Railways (IR) trains will be temporarily diverted to the new tracks.
"This approach will enable the elevation and restructuring of the existing IR tracks without causing disruptions. After completion, both the BSRP and IR will operate on their dedicated tracks independently," they added. |
