Work Detail The project is expected to produce sufficient electricity to supply more than 395,000 homes. Tattarang portfolio company Squadron Energy has obtained approval from the New South Wales (NSW) Independent Planning Commission (IPC) to proceed with the construction of the Spicers Creek Wind Farm in Australia. The 700MW renewable energy project is located in Wiradjuri Country, 25km north-east of Wellington within the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO REZ). It is anticipated to feature up to 117 wind turbines, along with battery energy storage and related infrastructure. The Spicers Creek Wind Farm is claimed to be among the largest to be approved in NSW. It is expected to produce sufficient electricity to supply more than 395,000 homes while aiming to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 650,000tpa. Squadron Energy head of project development Trish McDonald said: “This project is going to create more than 330 jobs and inject $46.9m into the regional economy. The team is now working on detailed design, management plans and other secondary approvals, so we can get the project shovel ready. “We will continue to work closely with landholders and community stakeholders, seeking feedback from the local community as the project progresses. “Central to our work is making a positive and long-lasting contribution to the regions we operate in, and we are committed to sharing the benefits of our projects with the local community.” In January this year, Squadron Energy broke ground on the 414MW Uungula wind farm in NSW. The wind farm, consisting of 69 turbines, is located 14km east of Wellington in the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people. The project will be placed within the CWO REZ and has received authorisation to connect to the current transmission network.
