Work Detail Saudi-based renewable energy developer ACWA Power Co has announced the commissioning of its 200-MW Kom Ombo solar park in Egypt and achieved partial grid synchronization for its Redstone concentrating solar power (CSP) plant in South Africa. The Redstone CSP plant, located in South Africa’s Northern Cape province, has successfully synchronized half of its installed capacity with the national grid, with full capacity of 100 MW expected in the coming days. Once fully operational, the Redstone plant will generate enough electricity to power nearly 200,000 homes annually. In Egypt, the newly operational Kom Ombo photovoltaic (PV) farm, constructed at a cost of approximately USD 182 million (EUR 168.3 million), will similarly produce power equivalent to the consumption of around 200,000 homes.
