A South African company is looking for a professional who has extensive networks and experience engaging with OEMs, EPCs, Subbies, Consultancies, Logistics, and O&Ms providers and the affiliated parties that provide the necessary services to get mega scale projects off of the ground across Africa.

The reason the vast networks are so important is because the candidate will be playing a key role in developing winning proposals for major energy projects (100MW+++ per project)- and you are going to need to know who to to call on (best quality at the best buck) and of course, navigating the legal and commercial components of the service provider contracts – mitigating risk.
To sum it up, your your experience would state: “Focused on the early-stage development up until the handover to the construction teams.”
This job entail:
50% Business development (largely proposal development and execution on techno-commercials aspects) and of course – deal closure,
30% Contract negotiation, review and execution – with strong knowledge of the procurement process, and
20% Coordination and project management of the various internal departments (engineering, finance, legals etc) as well external service providers.
The successful candidate would be managing and executing on the bid submission deliverables for international and local renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, BESS and green hydrogen.
The company’s client is an innovative renewable energy company specialising in wind, solar and utility-scale projects.
Non-negotiable that you have at least 5 years of experience in renewable energy technologies, particularly having worked at IPPs or EPC (supporting large projects).
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Relevant certification in project management or procurement is advantageous
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience in renewable energy technologies, specifically IPPs
Proven history of procurement and proposal management, particularly with solar, wind, BESS and green hydrogen projects
Familiarity with contract negotiation, PPAs and financial modelling, LCOE
Experience interfacing with EPC contractors and subcontractors to ensure project success
Prior experience in maintaining databases for contractual terms and project documentation is preferred
Proposals & Contracts Manager job responsibilities
Bid Coordination: Lead the coordination and optimisation of inputs and deliverables for renewable energy bid submissions, ensuring alignment with EPCs and subcontractors,
Support Proposal Management: Collaborate with the Senior Proposal Manager to optimise project outcomes and conduct LCOE analyses for competitive bids,
Database Management: Maintain and update a centralised database for preferred contractual terms and special deliverables to support project stakeholders,
Document Management: Ensure organised, professional management of all project documentation and bid submissions,
Cross-Department Collaboration: Facilitate effective communication and knowledge transfer among teams to enhance overall project delivery,
Technical Review: Conduct comprehensive technical reviews of bid proposals to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements,
Stakeholder Engagement: Actively engage with internal teams, external partners and clients to gather necessary inputs for bid proposals and project execution,
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks in project proposals and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful bid submissions,
Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements within the bidding and procurement functions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, and
Training and Development: Provide guidance and support to junior team members in the bid submission process and technical aspects of renewable energy projects.
