Work Detail The account will be led by Jessica Wilkinson who started Petal & Co. last year after three years at Weber Shandwick Manchester, leading its corporate team.

Accountants and business advisers, BDO LLP, has appointed Petal & Co. as its retained north west PR agency, following a competitive pitch process.

BDO LLP is the fifth largest global accountancy network and employs more than 300 people in Manchester and Liverpool.

Following the appointment of a new lead partner for BDO LLP in the north west and an ongoing focus on recruiting and retaining the best talent, the brief is to highlight the strength of BDO’s expertise and sector insight across the region as the leading adviser to the mid-market.

The account will be led by Jessica Wilkinson who started Petal & Co. last year after three years at Weber Shandwick Manchester, leading its corporate team.

She will be supported by marketing communications manager, Sian Collister, who brings solid financial services experience to the agency, having held marketing manager roles at peer-to-peer lender, MoneyThing and IMGold, a bullion dealer.

Ed Dwan, partner and head of BDO in the north west, said: “When appointing PR advisers we weren’t just looking for technical expertise; it was about finding a team that really understood our market and, importantly, our people.

"The team at Petal & Co. ticked every box. We’re pleased to have them on board and are looking forward to them playing a part in our growth strategy.”

This adds to Petal & Co.’s impressive financial services portfolio; including multi-award-winning discretionary fund manager, Creechurch Capital, financial adviser, Lasenby Knox and the Castel Property Funds.

Jessica added: “We set out to work with ambitious businesses and advisers who use their expertise to facilitate growth for clients and in their own business; making BDO the perfect fit. The quality of the talent, research and clever insights being produced by BDO will ensure this campaign, which is already seeing good results, will build strong momentum over the coming months.”

This latest professional services account follows the agency’s appointment earlier this year by Manchester-based commercial law firm, HRC Law, which scooped this year’s small firm of the year at the Manchester Legal Awards and is growing from strength-to-strength.
