Grupo Los Nacientes has been operating photovoltaic installations since 2022, allowing it to save up to 20% on its electricity bill.
Grupo Los Nacientes, a Costa Rican family business dedicated to the sale of wood products and pineapple products, installed a photovoltaic complex in 2022 that allows it to save up to 20% on its electricity bill.
With 39 years in the national market, its headquarters are located in the town of San Carlos, in the province of Alajuela, and it owns more than 10,000 hectares in the north of the country.
It is made up of four companies that create an agro-industrial chain from establishment to the sale of wood products and pineapple, avocado and bio-inputs for pesticide-free agricultural production.
The installation
According to Grupo Los Nacientes, the project is made up of six systems in four locations, with a combined capacity of 424.23kWp.
In total, there are 794 panels distributed in the four locations mentioned, "in two of them as a distributed generator with delivery of surpluses, with the capacity to produce up to 54% of energy consumption, and in the other two locations as a distributed generator in operation without delivery of surpluses to the grid," the company describes to pv magazine .
The systems have different models and panel powers: Canadian Solar CS6W-535MS (1000 V), JA Solar JAM72S30-530 / MR, JA Solar JAM78S10-450MR, JA Solar «JAM72S20-450/MR -440/MR. The panel powers are 450 W, 535 W and 545 W.
Meanwhile, the brand of the inverters is SMA, model SMA Sunny Boy 7.0-US (240V), although it is noted that, "however, the models vary from one project to another and range from 7.7 to 62.5 kW."
From the formalization of the contract, it took four months to implement it until it was put into operation.
"The project results in a reduction in consumption from the public grid of 553,203 kWh per year, which is equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 230 average Costa Rican households," says Kenneth Solano, Engineering Manager at Avolta Energy.
For his part, the Financial Manager of Grupo Los Nacientes, Emilio Salas, assures that "through the savings generated, the associated financial costs are covered, allowing the investments to be recovered in an average period of 4.9 years." |
