Skanska has finished two “summer slammer” college renovation projects in Boston, Massachusetts, together valued at $13m.
Executed during summer when students are away, the projects were an $11m upgrade to Northeastern University’s Robinson Hall, and a $2m renovation of Boston College’s Higgins Hall.
On the Robinson Hall project, Skanska undertook a 35,000-square-foot upgrade to the 5-story academic building, including the installation of a new rooftop unit and around 100 variable air volume systems to improve climate controls.
It also installed new fire protection and alarm systems, and fitted out two classrooms, the entry lobby, and a dance studio.
At Higgins Hall, Skanska performed a $1.5m renovation last summer and returned this summer to renovate the 1,600-square-foot auditorium, bringing the project value to $2m.
“Our team continues to set a new bar for the firm’s work on small-scale projects such as these,” said Mark Lootz, vice president for Skanska in the New England Region. |
