Work Detail U.S.-headquartered TDI-Brooks has completed another geotechnical program offshore Türkiye, its fifth such investigation for Istanbul-headquartered DenAr Ocean Engineering Services. Research vessel Nautilus, formerly known as Nautical Geo, was sent to the Black Sea site, offshore Filyos, from the U.S. East Coast to perform the operation. The geotechnical part of the investigation included 49 gravity cone penetrometer tests (gCPTs), 50 jumbo piston corers (JPCs), 48 cone penetration tests (CPTs), and 41 BCs. Additionally, an environmental component was incorporated, comprising 27 environmental BCs, 28 CTDs, 19 water samples, and 180 kilometers of marine fauna transects. To remind, the 75-meter-long DP2 Nautilus underwent a six-month retrofit campaign in Las Palmas before going to the shores of the U.S. East Coast for offshore wind assignments. TDI-Brooks in August reported it had won a new geotechnical survey assignment at a natural gas project off the coast of Trinidad and Tobago, which is operated by Australia’s energy titan Woodside. The news came after the company completed an upgrade on its 50-year-old survey vessel Gyre, expanding its seabed mapping capacity.
