The partnership is a key step in boosting grid reliability and supporting renewable energy expansion in the state.
Energy Vault Holdings has entered an agreement with the Enervest Group to deploy a 1 gigawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Stoney Creek site in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.
The collaboration is a significant move towards enhancing grid reliability and supporting the state’s renewable energy expansion.
Enervest CEO Ross Warby stated: “Energy Vault’s leading integrated hardware and software solution coupled with their deep technology and system design expertise makes Energy Vault an ideal partner for the Stony Creek BESS.
“We value strong partnerships such as the one we have with Energy Vault and consider such collaborations as a cornerstone to accelerated quality project development.
“We look forward to consolidating further partnerships with other key stakeholders including the Narrabri local and indigenous community, and the successful delivery of the project.” The companies are currently finalising the development and grid application approvals to achieve a full final investment decision for the Stoney Creek BESS project. This system will help in improving the efficiency of renewable energy generation and enhancing the stability of the NSW power grid, while also reducing its carbon intensity.
Energy Vault will act as the turn-key engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning partner for the Stoney Creek project.
They will also provide long-term services, software and maintenance support throughout the project’s lifespan.
The BESS will be constructed using Energy Vault’s X-Vault integration platform and B-VAULT product, certified by UL9540 and AS3000, managed by the Vault-OS Energy Management System.
The system’s architecture offers customers flexibility with battery and inverter suppliers.
Its AC-coupled and DC-coupled configurations provide the versatility needed for any project.
The latest announcement marks an expansion of Energy Vault’s presence in the Australian market, following 400 megawatt-hours of projects in NSW which are scheduled for delivery in 2025.
Energy Vault Board chairman and CEO Robert Piconi said: “We continue to expand and convert on our growing, multi-GWh funnel of energy storage projects in Australia and look forward to building the partnership with Ross and his team at Enervest.
“With Enervest, we share a focus on large-scale and financially attractive projects to enhance grid resiliency, and the Stoney Creek project is another example of executing the growth plans that we have outlined for 2025 and beyond.”
In May 2024, Energy Vault secured contracts from ACEN Australia to install two large-scale BESS facilities. |
